In Greek mythology, the Minotaur is a cruel being with a human body and a bull's head. He is the son of Pasiphae, wife of King Minos, and a bull. King Minos was cursed after betraying Poseidon, for he had to sacrifice a bull received from the seas, but tried to deceive him by killing another bull instead. The curse made his wife fall in love with the bull received, and from this relationship Minotaurus was born.
The king did not want to see the creature, so he put him in a maze with no way out, where young men were offered as game. To prevent this from ever ending, the hero Theseus managed to kill Minotaur and free hostages in the labyrinth.
This battle serves as inspiration in many art and tattoos. People who tattoo seek to represent a personal struggle, a great challenge or protection of loved ones.
