A NIKE launch the backpack Elite EasyOndesigned to suit athletes of all styles and needs. With a patented magnetic closure system combined with a reinforced TPU lining, the backpack offers a practical and accessible wearing experience. The user can effortlessly close the top flap with a single hand, ensuring practicality and safety. In addition, a G-hook on the back reinforces the closure, keeping internal items secure.

Modular handles for wheelchairs
One of the great innovations of Elite EasyOn is its patented modular strap system. These allow the backpack to be adjusted to fit both shoulders and wheelchair straps. This versatility allows the backpack to be used as a conventional backpack, sling bag or even hung on wheelchairs. This functionality was born out of a collaboration with the local Portland Pounders wheelchair rugby team during the development of the prototype.
Collaboration and Testing for Excellence
The development process involved prototypes tested with Paralympic athletes. Richard Ramsay, senior developer at NIKE, took an active part in the tests. Born without a left arm, Ramsay highlighted common challenges with conventional backpacks, such as difficulty opening zippers and accessing contents. Based on his observations, the team moved the top pocket by 1.5 cm and widened the side pocket handle by 2 cm. These improvements reflected NIKE's commitment to truly inclusive design.

Full Opening and Secure Closures
Another highlight is the full opening of the front, which facilitates access to the contents inside, especially for people with poor dexterity. During the tests, the designers simulated different motor limitations, using oven gloves and kitchen utensils to open and close the backpack. The result is a combination of magnetic closures, adjustable straps and an intuitive opening system.
Universal Design
The backpack isn't just better for disabled athletes. It's better for everyone," says Richard Ramsay. The Elite EasyOn project reflects NIKE's vision of creating inclusive products that cater for a wide range of users, from Paralympic athletes to those looking for everyday practicality.

The NIKE Elite EasyOn backpack is set to redefine what accessibility and functionality mean in sports design. With countless possibilities of use and innovative solutions, it promises to be an indispensable ally for all types of athletes.
