One Piece is a manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda, published from 1997 to 2022. From the manga, an anime was made and broadcasted since 1999. With all the worldwide success of the series, several movies, special episodes, and games have also been produced.
The series tells the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, a young man whose body gained the properties of rubber after accidentally eating a devil fruit. With his crew, the Straw-Hat Pirates, Luffy explores the Grand Line (the most dangerous route in the world) in search of the world's most sought-after treasure, the "One Piece", in order to become the next Pirate King.
Despite being a fantasy series, One Piece manages to insert into its episodes many important themes of today's society, such as prejudice, corruption, inequality, politics, globalization, and various other experiences that Luffy encounters along the way.
