Osiris is an Egyptian god, considered the deity of the dead, of eternity, of vegetation, of judgment and of the afterlife. Son of Geb (god of the earth) and Nut (goddess of the sky and mother of the gods) he is associated with the process of "psychostasis" (ceremony of weighing the heart of the dead), with the function of judging and deciding their fate.
Osiris in Greek means "many eyes", the rays of the sun that see everything, both land and sea, and symbolizes fertility, prosperity, rebirth, resurrection and justice. He ruled Egypt and passed on his knowledge of agriculture and domestication of the animals.
Unlike most Egyptian gods, Osiris is represented with human forms and is not associated with any animal. He is usually seen as a mummified man with a beard, black or green skin, with crossed arms, holding a staff in one hand, and a whip in the other. His head features the crown atef, with ostrich feathers.
